North Somerset

North Somerset extends as far as the edge of Bristol and the
River Avon to the north and to the river Axe and the Mendip Hills
in the south. Two thirds of the areas are greenbelt or an Area of
Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is an area of contrasts, from a
coastline of cliffs and sandy beaches, to areas of beautiful
countryside with wooded hills, open moorland and wetlands. Notable
major landscape features include the Avon Gorge, Severn Estuary,
Gordano Valley and Tickenham Ridge and Moor.
North Somerset is an increasingly attractive place to live and
work. Its mix of natural beauty and business potential can be
clearly reflected by the consistent growth of new residents
attracted into the area.
The population of North Somerset currently stands at 189,492 with
an approximate catchment population area of 1.5 million.
