Mediation services of business, for business, by business

GWE Business West, in partnership with ADRGroup, has formed Mediation in Business (MiB). The new joint venture company draws upon GWE Business West’s links, relationships and understanding of business in the South West. And ADRGroup’s 21 year’s of pioneering work in the mediation field.

Mediation is now an accepted process recommended by the courts, codified through statutes (most recently the employment act of 2008/9) and supported by ACAS. It has been commonly used to solve international diplomatic and trade disputes, as well as complex domestic and business affairs.

Mediation gives businesses the chance to reach a confidential early settlement before they are committed to either escalating legal fees or uncapped tribunal exposure. It means that vital relationships can continue to work and that reputation can remain in tact.

Where MiB differs is that it focuses the end user. It deals with the disputant direct (as well as their legal advisors).

MiB offers mediation for all kinds of business dispute including: Commercial (B2B and B2C); Board/Investor and Shareholder; Workplace and Managerial; Miscellaneous and Hybrid – i.e. Family Businesses, Acts of God, etc; Public vs Private Sector.

Adrian Wheale, Founding Director, ADRGroup, said, “Many businesses can’t afford to sue or be involved in litigation. Mediation offers many advantages including speed, cost certainty and confidentiality. MiB is unique in its understanding of business needs in the mediation process and has ensured that the new service is of business, for business, by business - offering prompt, constructive and creative solutions.”

James Durie, Director, GWE Business West, said, “Disputes can drain a company's management time and money, and the majority of people involved in litigation find the process wearing and stressful even if they end up winning. We have set up MiB to help South West businesses resolve their disputes effectively in a way that minimises damage caused by long delays, large legal bills or adverse publicity. In business there will always be differences - how these differences are settled is what really matters.”

For those who would like to find out more about how mediation works, MiB will be holding a half-hour mock mediation session at the Business Show Bristol on 15th September 2010 at Leigh Court, Abbots Leigh.  For further information on the session, visit: http://www.businessshowbristol.co.uk
