Not one but two Business West members have won awards at the national British Chambers of Commerce awards.

Plimsoll Productions, an independent production company based in Bristol, won the High Growth Business of the Year award, whereas Castle School Education Trust (CSET) is celebrating after winning the Business and Education Partnership category.

The judges were impressed by the commitment, tenacity and focus that Plimsoll had demonstrated during the previous year, as they continue to expand their businesses in the US.

Plimsoll’s Managing Director and Co-Founder Christine Owen commented:

“Winning the National High Growth Business Award is a great recognition for the hard work our staff have put in over the last three years. We’re very focused on continuing to grow our company to ensure we have a sustainable business for many years to come. I’m very proud that we have been able create jobs for the South West Region.  Long may this continue.”

Castle School Trust, on the other hand, owe their success to the ‘Premium Partners for Schools’ programme, which prepares young people for the world of work.

Director of Premium Partners, Tessa Wilkinson said:

“We are thrilled that the hard work done by CSET's Premium Partners for Schools team over the past five years has been recognised by the British Chamber of Commerce.

“The driver behind everything we do is that our students receive the best possible opportunities to discover career paths, understand the expectations of employers, the importance of employability skills and how their learning links to the real word. To have impacted over 5500 students in various ways is a fantastic achievement by the Premium Partners team and especially our business partners who have given over 2600 hours to mentor students, run projects, deliver CV and interview sessions and network.

“We are looking forward to growing the Premium Partners for Schools network and welcome enquiries from schools who want to develop their employer engagement schemes and businesses who would like to work with schools.”

Speaking about the success of both Business West members at the awards, Phil Smith, Managing Director of Business West, said:

“Plimsoll and Castle School Trust are shining examples of the scope of business talent that we have in our region. To be nominated, never mind win, a Chamber award is no mean feat, and it is a credit to the teams at Plimsoll and Castle School that they have managed to achieve this prestigious accolade.”

Supported by DHL, the London Stock Exchange and BT among others, the Chamber Business Awards is now in its 13th year, and is one of the showpiece events in the business calendar.
Nominations open for the 2017 awards on Monday 13th March, and any active Chamber members are eligible to apply.
