ATA Carnets

What is an ATA Carnet and why would I need one?

  • The ATA Carnet is an international Customs document which allows the temporary importation of - commercial samples, professional equipment of goods going to either a trade fair or exhibition - to 36 countries who are part of the ATA Carnet convention.
  • Without an ATA Carnet it would be necessary to go through each country's Customs procedures for the temporary admission of goods.
  • The ATA Carnet simplifies the custom formalities by allowing a single document to be used for clearing goods through Customs in 36 different countries who are part of the ATA Carnet convention.
  • An ATA Carnet is valid for one year and allows for movement of the goods shown on the Carnet as many times as required during the 12 months to any of the destinations applied for.

 

How we can help

  • Unlike some other Chambers of Commerce, we do not give you all the vouchers and ask you to complete them yourselves - we complete them for you from information supplied by you.
  • The fee for the issuing of a Carnet is considerably cheaper if you are a Business West member.
  • To apply for an ATA Carnet you will be required to complete an application form and will also have to provide a guarantee. The guarantee must be issued by a first class bank or for a quick and easy solution to your guarantee needs we have an in-house arrangement with Norwich Union and can, in most cases, obtain a guarantee quickly and easily on your behalf.
