Women's Networking Evening
with Lindy Morgan

Join us for a two-course dinner and
glass of wine at our next Women's Networking Evening at Bristol's
Victorian Lido, with guest speaker Lindy Morgan.
Dating back to 1849, the
Lido has undergone a major transformation with the addition of
three further features to the refurbished outdoor heated pool, and
the menu is inspired by Southern Europe and the Middle East, finest
ingredients sourced from Europe or locally grown in the Lido
Kitchen Garden.
Our Guest Speaker
Lindy Morgan is the Director
of the Sovereign Development Consortium (SDC), a collaboration of
organisations that work together to maximise public funding and
efficiencies to build new homes for homeless people. Lindy will
talk about how she got involved in the housing sector, the demand
for affordable housing, how the SDC are striving to meet that
demand, the challenges it faces and what the future for the
affordable housing market and housing sectors could look like given
the economic climate and the impact of a change of
government.
Lindy's career in housing was prompted through a combination of her
own housing circumstances and further education. After becoming
homeless and being housed in temporary housing by the local
authority Lindy became a tenant activist. Working with residents,
politicians and the local authority Lindy helped secure an Estate
Action grant to fund much needed investment for the estate she
lived on labelled by the local press as notorious and a hotspot for
drugs and chaotic families.
The SDC was set up in 2003, cited as one of the best
performing partnerships, hence the award Lindy recently collected
at a national event in London.
