Hello Juliet ,
Bath
Chamber news, information and events for GWE Business
West Chambers of Commerce
members.
Delivery
restrictions: The Chamber will be fully
involved in debates about a proposal to restrict
access between 10am and 6pm to vehicles in a number of
Bath City centre streets. Full details are available at
www.bathnes.gov.uk
More information is also available about proposed
improvements to create a more pedestrian and cyclist
friendly environment at http://www.bathnes.gov.uk/bathpackage
You have until September 14th to comment. Please copy us
in on your responses to info@bathchamber.co.uk
View
to more rooms: Consultants are recommending
that Bath could accommodate an additional 300 rooms over
the next ten years and something like 600 by 2026. The
issue will be what kind of establishments will provide
the additional spaces which will help the growth of the
tourist economy. The Chamber will be engaged in
discussions on the issue to ensure that necessary
development does not come at a cost to existing
businesses.
Transport news: The
West of England Partnership’s regular newsletter about
transport issues can be accessed at www.westofengland.org
SouthGate
update: Plans are still on track for the first
phase of the SouthGate centre to open on November 4th.
The 800 place car park is also due to open at the same
time.
Christmas is coming: New
festive lights will be provided in Bath and the other
main towns in the district from the company which has
previously illuminated the Champs Elysee and Eiffel
Tower in Paris. Additional glamour will come from local
resident, the Hollywood star, Nicholas Cage who will
switch on the display on November 26th, the opening day
of the Christmas Market. The switch-on date for Keynsham
is November 27th and December 4th in Midsomer
Norton.
Sponsors needed:
Organisers of the Bath Charity Fashion Show are
hoping to find financial support for the 2010 event
which is due to be staged on Friday February 5th in the
Assembly Rooms. All profits will be split between the
children's charity, CLIC Sargent and the mental health
charity, Mind. More details are available from Laura
Curran - 07807 108133 or e-mail laurascurran@hotmail.co.uk
Helping
the next generation: GWE Business West is
looking for experienced people with a mix of skills,
such as marketing, finance, regulatory information and
general management to act as mentors for up and coming
business people on the Adapt to Survive programme.
Previous experience is preferred but not essential and
training can provided. More information from Juanita
McLaren-Brown - 01225 338383
Mixing
it: Bath Chamber of Commerce mixer events
continue to be very popular with members who take
advantage of an opportunity to mix business with
pleasure. In July, an excellent event was staged at Bath
City Football Club, on September 3rd it’s the turn of Thring
Townsend, Lee and Pemberton. Look out for more great
events on the GWE Business West
website.
