A St John Ambulance course that equips healthcare professionals with life saving first aid skills is now offering workers in the dental sector an added bonus.
The two-hour Healthcare Workplace Resuscitation course, which trains people in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) now comes with an additional certificate that can be used by people registered with the General Dental Council to illustrate their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Dentists, dental nurses, hygienists and technicians must be registered with the General Dental Council to work in the UK. It requires all members to continually update and refresh their skills and the two-hour St John Ambulance course meets that requirement.
The training can be delivered in-house at any location in the South West for between six to 12 people or at one of the organisation’s 32 training centres in the region.
Pam Harris, a first aid trainer for St John Ambulance in the South West, said: ‘This short resuscitation course is actually suitable for all state registered healthcare professionals - doctors, nurses, and paramedics for example - not just dental professionals.
‘All students are awarded a certificate of attendance plus an additional certificate to provide verification of CPD - a skill qualified dental professionals need to show every 12 months. We know how busy working practices can be so our trainers can come to surgeries and provide the course on site.’
