BUSINESSES will be able to find out about the hurdles and pitfalls associated with exporting when they attend a seminar this week.
UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) South West and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) have organised the event to help firms understand Customs and VAT procedures when trading overseas. They also want to raise awareness of legal obligations needed to comply with changes in legislation.
The full-day seminar – at the Jurys Inn Hotel, in Plymouth's Exeter Street, on Wednesday – will feature presentations by UKTI experts and HMRC International Trade Development officers and include an explanation of the National Export System and an overview of the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programme. Delegates will be able to learn about record keeping, customs penalties and the UK Single Window for submitting information such as declarations and permit applications.
UKTI's Russell Jones said: "We can help businesses understand Customs and VAT issues may not be as complicated as they think."
