In addition work on re-doubling of the Swindon to Kemble line will commence this autumn and the doubling should be in operation by spring 2014.
The £45m scheme will entail the existing track being moved to one side to give space for an additional 12.5 miles of track to be laid. This should enable four trains to travel each way from the stations per hour and remove the bottle neck caused by the present single track. We have been involved in the lobbying previous of DfT for this work and thus are delighted that it will commence shortly.
