Networking is an excellent way of making and
developing contacts for your business. By attending events you can
keep up to date with the latest information in your sector or
region. However, this can be time consuming, so you need to choose
carefully which events to attend.
To get the most out of networking - plan
ahead. Find out who is organising and sponsoring the event and
whether there will be a speaker or any special guests. Find
out which companies will be attending and make a list of the people
you want to meet. Do a little research on each of them so
that it is easier to approach them on the day. Finally,
focus on quality not quantity. You’ll get better results by
making a few good contacts than handing out business cards
indiscriminately.
