The Initiative is a business leadership team that exists to enable the business community to play a part in influencing the way the region is shaped, managed and developed. It provides an effective link between the private and public sector to ensure that the interests of commerce are taken into account when key strategic decisions are made which will affect the future.

The organisation evolved from the Bristol Initiative, which was set up in 1988 to provide a focus for informed debate and to foster a spirit of partnership, particularly between the private sector and those in local governance. Its purpose is as relevant today, as it was then - to improve and enhance the community in which business operates.

Based on our successful 20 years in Bristol our activity now covers Bath & North East Somerset and Swindon and will be extended into Gloucestershire.
