The Business Initiative for North Somerset
Launched in 2005 the North Somerset Initiative represents local
businesses of all sizes by bringing together the four Chambers of
Trade and Commerce operating in the district, the main business
clubs and associations, individual businesses, the local authority
and the Police Authority.
The purpose of the Initiative is to provide strategic
communication channels so that businesses in North Somerset,
working with other partners, can play a significant role in
influencing the development and governance of the area.
With 76 members, including 61 from the private sector, the
organisation is firmly rooted in North Somerset's business
community.
Since its launch, the North Somerset Initiative has made a
valuable contribution to strategic development in the
sub-region.
Consultation with members identified the improvement of local
transport infrastructure as a key priority for change. The
Initiative undertook research identifying the transport needs of
business which informed its contribution to the debates on the
Greater Bristol Transport Study, the Joint Local Transport Plan,
the West of England Vision 2026 and the Weston Area Framework.
