Privacy Policy: Data Protection Act 1998 and The Privacy and
Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003
1. This Privacy Policy covers the treatment of personal
data (as defined in the Data Protection Act 1998) which you submit
to us. We will process any personal data you provide in accordance
with the Data Protection Act 1998 and will also comply with the
Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations
2003.
2. Collection of personal data
In order for you to request or submit information to us, we may ask
you to provide personal data such as your name, postal address,
telephone, fax number and e-mail address. When you submit personal
data to us, you understand and agree that this data will be
supplied to UK Trade and Investment and the Department for
Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform who will take
appropriate steps to ensure that personal data is protected from
unauthorised use and kept in a secure manner either electronically
or on manual records.
3. The data is to be collected for the purpose of
promoting UK business competitiveness, to help secure overseas
sales and investments and to support and develop UK inward
investment.
4. In order to provide you with advice, further
information or support, the personal data may be passed to your
local UK Trade & Investment team in England (or your equivalent
in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland) or the Regional Development
Agencies in England (and the Development Agencies for Scotland,
Wales and Northern Ireland) or to a carefully selected UK based
Trade Association or Chamber of Commerce.
5. When you accept the UK Trade & Investment’s
website’s Terms and Conditions and submit personal data to us, you
understand and agree that:
- This may involve the information being used by UK Trade and
Investment or the Department for Business, Enterprise and
Regulatory Reform for direct marketing and other activities for
trade & investment purposes.
- Your local UK Trade & Investment Team (or your equivalent in
Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland), the Regional
Development Agencies in England (and the Development Agencies for
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), or a selected UK based
Trade Association or Chamber of Commerce may also contact you
directly in the future in relation to offering related
services.
- It may also involve the transfer of data outside the European
Economic Area to our overseas offices.
- UK Trade & Investment may send you marketing information
about UK Trade & Investment by e-mail.
6. If you do not want your details to be used in any of
the ways described in paragraph 5, please change your Data
Protection permissions, once you are registered on the website. To
do this, log into the website using your username and password.
From the menu on the left, click ‘My Account’ and then ‘Change
Account Details’. You may change your Data Protection
permissions in this way at any time once you are registered on the
website.
7. Use of Cookies
Cookies are pieces of data created when you visit a site, and
contain a unique, anonymous number. They do not contain any
personal information about you and cannot be used to identify an
individual user.
You can choose not to accept cookies by changing the settings in
your Internet Browser – refer to your Browser’s help files for
instructions. Please be aware that if you decline the use of
