Export Control Seminar - Intermediate

This full day event comprising a series of formal
presentations and is aimed at those who already have a basic
knowledge of export controls and/or those who require a deeper
understanding.
There will be presentations on each of the following:
- Control lists - how the lists are compiled and details on the
types of goods, software and technology specified therein.
- Technology - what is technology? How can a company decide
if the technology is licensable? Different means of
technology transfer; compliance and record keeping related to
technology.
- Trade - the trade controls - i.e. trafficking and brokering -
covering both the goods and the activities specified.
- End-use controls - the WMD (Catch-all) and military end-use
controls.
- Licence Types and the Licensing Process - the different types
of licence, common pitfalls when completing a licence application
and how decisions are reached on whether to issue or refuse a
licence.
- Compliance - why we have compliance visits; what to expect on a
compliance visit.
- Concluding remarks including staff training - addressing export
control; ideas on how to approach staff training and why it is
important; why things go wrong and the consequences.
Key Benefits
Upon completion attendees should understand how the controls
apply to their exporting and trade activities, and have a better
working knowledge of if/where their items are controlled on the
lists and which type of licence can be used.

Note
Although beginnners and intermediate events are held on
consecutive days we do not recommend attendance at both as the
material covered is similar and there is a necessary degree of
repetition. The intermediate course covers the same
information as the beginners but goes into more detail on each
topic.
