Local Authorities across our region have been allocated additional funding to provide new business grants for those impacted by national restrictions during the 4 weeks to 2nd December.
In the West of England, applications have opened for the two main grants, and the local authorities (Bath & North East Somerset Council, Bristol City Council, North Somerset Council and South Gloucestershire Council) have co-ordinated the eligibility guidance for the Additional Restrictions Grant where some local discretion is available.
There are two main schemes available:
- Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG) - available for businesses whose premises are required to close by law and who have a Business Rates liability in the name of the tenant business. Amounts available are from £1,334 up to £3,000 based on the rateable value of the hereditament on 5th November.
- Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) - available for businesses that have either no Business Rates liability in their own name and/or have not been required to close under national restrictions but have been adversely impacted by COVID-19. Amounts available are up to £1,000 for businesses employing 0-10 employees, and up to £1,500 for businesses employing 11-49 employees
Business West encourages businesses in the region to review their eligibility for these grants and apply to their council where their business premises are based. Only one application is available per business and ARG is not available if the business qualifies for LRSG.
Applications can be made directly on each Local Authority using the links below:

- South Gloucestershire Council
Early applications are encouraged given we expect strong demand for such grants. Follow up cohorts and top ups may be available if the scheme is undersubscribed from the first cohort.
