On Thursday 14th February, over 1000+ businesspeople, school children, jobseekers and members of the general public will descend on STEAM Museum in Swindon for JobFest 2019.

Entering its fifth year, JobFest is regarded by members of the Swindon business community as one of the first main business and recruitment events of the calendar year. And with exhibitor packages being charged at a flat rate of £185 JobFest is also one of the best value too.

So what can businesses exhibiting at JobFest this year expect to get out of it?

1. Boost your recruitment

In 2018, over 350 students from local Swindon Secondary Schools and 430 college students, unemployed and returners to work attended JobFest.

With so many great candidates walking through the door, you’re bound to find your perfect recruit, whether that’s as a result of boosting the number of applications for hard to fill vacancies or recruiting directly on the day!

Capita Workforce Management attends JobFest every year and have witnessed some fantastic results says their Operations Director Daniel Busson:

“We have used the opportunities Jobfest provides to advertise available apprenticeships during the event which increased our application intake by 40%. We were able to meet the candidates there and then and start our recruitment process from the start. Since Jobfest started we have recruited 4 apprentices directly from the event and I would highly recommend businesses of all sizes attended this event to meet our talented local young people and help to inspire the next generation.“

2. Build brand awareness

It’s not just potential new recruits at JobFest, more than 200 businesses and organisations have exhibited at Jobfest since 2016.

This makes it a great opportunity, particularly for smaller businesses, to get your name out there and let the world know about all the fantastic goods and services that you have to offer.

In the previous years the event has been covered extensively by local media, which means potential free advertising. What’s not to like?

3. B2B opportunities

As an exhibitor at JobFest you’ll be in great company. The exhibitors list from the 2018 event reads like a who’s who of businesses in Swindon - Honda, Nationwide, BMW and Zurich were all in attendance.

For this reason businesses who attend JobFest will find that it’s a golden opportunity to network with other Swindon businesses of all shapes and sizes.

4. Helping the region

One of the other main reasons that businesses attend JobFest year after year is to do their bit for the community.

Helping young people to recognise the talents and potential within themselves to have a successful career not only helps to build a stronger local economy, businesses also derive great satisfaction and positive local publicity for attending.

Discussing the business benefits of the event Mike Godfrey, Chairman of Swindon & Wiltshire Initiative at Business West said:

“Jobfest is a fantastic event that has a significant impact on the young people who attend, laying the foundations for skilled and rewarding working lives.

“The feedback that we get from businesses regarding JobFest is overwhelmingly positive. Not only does it help them to achieve their recruitment goals, the event is also a fantastic opportunity to network, find new business opportunities and do some good for the community.

“Exhibition stands are offered at a significantly discounted price when compared to similar business expo events, making JobFest great value as well as helping to boost Swindon’s long-term productivity and prosperity.”
