Business West is urging companies not to miss out on the chance of a £2,000 grant from the government to help with understanding changes to trade rules with the EU.

Applications for the SME Brexit Support Fund must be submitted on or before Wednesday 30 June and all businesses with up to 500 employees and an annual turnover of no more than £100 million are welcome to apply.

The grant can be used for training such as how to complete customs declarations and how to manage customs processes, as well as specific import and export related aspects, including rules of origin and more.

Catherine Stephens, Head of International Trade Services at Business West said:

“The government grant funding to help businesses access fundamental import and export training and advice is a welcome support at this time.

Companies must act now if they are uncertain about any of the new regulations. I strongly encourage these firms, both big and small, to apply for the funding, whether they are trading for the first time or if they just need to brush up on their knowledge.

Not being certain of the changes to rules when trading with the EU could cause potential delays and incur avoidable costs for businesses.”

Business West runs training courses on all aspects of import and export, including customs declarations.

These popular courses run regularly and are key to ensuring all of your team understand the rules when it comes to international trade.

Chris Sweeney from Bott Ltd attended the customs declarations training last year and commented,

“It was clear, in depth and pitched at the right level for us, with a lot of detail aimed at making sure we avoided any costs or delays in the New Year, by getting things right first time. Catherine’s team know their stuff and I will always go to them for advice now.”

A full list of our import and export training courses can be found here.
