Exciting collaboration between Arcadia & Bristol Port showcased at Glastonbury

2nd July 2019

Business West Initiative staff members went to Glastonbury Festival last week to see a sneak preview of Bristol based Arcadia Spectacular’s latest artistic installation, Pangea.

Towering over the vast festival site, this creative art show is the result of a business introduction set up by the Bristol Chamber of Commerce & Initiative. The Initiative invited members and businesses from around the Bristol region to come along to a tour of Bristol Port. Arcadia Spectacular were looking for their next creative project, after Bristol success followed by an international tour with their Spider art installation. The cranes at Bristol Port have become the centrepiece of their new project.

James Durie, Executive Director of Bristol Chamber of Commerce & Initiative at Business West said:

“We were delighted to bring together the cultural development of the city with the business community. Arcadia are known on the world-wide stage for their innovative performance art installations which require unusual equipment. Connecting Bristol Port and Arcadia can only be a positive benefit for the city region and continue to put Bristol on the map.”

David Brown, Chief Executive Officer from The Bristol Port Company said:

“Our membership of the Initiative led to an exciting collaboration between The Bristol Port Company and Arcadia. It was fantastic to see Crane 91 being used in a completely different and creative way and hopefully it will become the headline act for many years to come.”

Bertie Cole, Technical Director at Arcadia Spectacular said:

“We are grateful to the Bristol Initiative for helping us to make a superb connection which has led to our most exciting project to date. Launching at Glastonbury 2019, this five year project will take Arcadia Spectacular to the next level. If other businesses in the Bristol area would like to get involved in our developing installation or can offer more innovative equipment that can be used in our sculpture, contact info@arcadiaspectacular.com please.”

The Initiative brings together key business leaders from around the region to work together for positive change to make this area the best place to live, learn and work.  To find out more visit www.businesswest.co.uk/initiative
