How your business can learn from the success of the Swindon Wildcats

13th August 2019

In September, business leaders will have the opportunity to learn from Aaron Nell, head coach of the Swindon Wildcats, on how to build and lead a winning team.

The Wildcats have had their most successful season to date, and Aaron will share the secrets of their success as part of a leadership development programme that culminates at a National Ice Hockey League game in the Autumn.

Delivered in partnership with Business West and Team-i – a cutting edge executive coaching and training business that works with elite sportspeople to design unique training programmes – the series of workshops with cover topics including how to create a winning culture, how to attract the best talent and how to develop leaders within a team.

Tim Thurston, Managing Director of Team-i, comments:

“It has long been recognised that business leaders can learn a lot from leaders in the sporting arena, so much so that Sir Alex Ferguson previously taught at Harvard Business School. We have researched several elite sports teams from a variety of sports, that include rugby champions Exeter Chiefs and Gloucester, football manager and former player Steve Perryman, county cricket, England’s netball team and World champion and Olympic silver medallist Sam Murray. This research has formed the basis for development programmes, which have been delivered through workshops and direct with many companies. Team-i have just completed a new case study based on the success of the Swindon Wildcats. All of the topics Aaron will cover are essential to the success of any business, and this is a unique opportunity to hear how the key elements for each can be implemented into a team to make it elite. From the workshops you will not only have a good understanding of how the Wildcats’ success was achieved, you will also have a framework that you use to create a development plan for your business.”

Aaron Neil, Head Coach of Swindon Wildcats, comments:

“Half way through the season we were in a bad spot, 10 points behind the leaders. We looked at how we could instil confidence into our players and whilst getting them to work hard also enjoy playing. We had a great turnaround and won 17 of our last 18 games.  I think my players are the same as any employee at any company. They want to work hard and be successful and if they are treated well, they perform better. I look forward to sharing how we achieved our success with businesses in Swindon.”

Priced at £295, spaces on the development programme strictly limited.
