Not another business year in review blog…

4th January 2017

If any year is deserving of the sort of forensic examination that the media trots out at this time of year, 2016 surely qualifies as one of the most prescient in living memory.

In the space of 365 short days, 2016 gave rise to global political and economic shifts, which will shape business, society and prosperity in Britain for a generation.

Despite this, however, as we reach digital content saturation point in the era of ‘peak smartphone’, it is easy to experience a touch of ‘year in review’ fatigue, what with anything and everything that 2016 did bring being given a critical onceover.

Never mind ‘peak smartphone’, at the dawn of 2017 it would appear that we are firmly in ‘peak’ year in review territory, albeit only temporarily, as the dust begins to settle on what was an unpredictable year to say the least.

If like the tinsel-wrapped confectionary indulged over the festive period, you have the appetite for ‘just one more’ business year in review, apart from ours (of course), Business West Chambers of Commerce can wholeheartedly recommend our partner the British Chambers of Commerce’s 2016 in review podcast.

Running at an easily digestible 29 minutes in length, the BCC’s annual podcast gets to the heart of the key business issues of 2016, and offers expert advice and guidance upon how these will affect you.

Presented by the BCC’s Allan Williams, senior press & communications manager, the panel of experts, which includes director of economics and research Mike Spicer and head of public affairs Ashley Shackleton, cover Brexit, the Irish border, EU nationals, politics, elections, the economy, and more.

Of interest not only to Business West Chambers of Commerce members, the podcast is now available to all by clicking here.

P.S. for any year in review addicts out there, blogs by our director in Gloucestershire Ian Mean and our Director in Swindon and Wiltshire Ian Larrard aren’t bad either!
