Queen's Awards for international trade winners we've helped grow their exports

30th April 2019

The South West is an exporting powerhouse, so it’s not surprising to see that 15 of our most successful exporting businesses have scooped a Queen’s Award for international trade this year.

Each of the firms recognised this year have had standout successes entering or expanding in new export markets and we’re proud to say that we’ve helped a fair few of them grow their sales internationally along the way.

Here’s a few of the lucky winners and how we’ve helped them in their export journeys.

Auger Torque

As a leading manufacturer and global provider of earth-moving attachments, Auger Torque’s export sales have grown by 60% over the last three years, with many new markets being developed, including the Middle East, South Africa, Latin America and the Baltic States.

Founded in 1998 in Gloucestershire, where the headquarters remain, the business has experienced significant growth year on year. Following the recent opening of operations in the Middle East and North America, Auger Torque now boasts five manufacturing and stock holding facilities worldwide, as well as a network of over 150 distributors and dealers globally.

Auger Torque received support from International Trade Advisor Sarah Hildersley as part of our Extend Your Global Reach programme, which enabled them to establish new partnerships in Latin America where projected export sales will be worth around £10m.

Coltraco Ultrasonics

World leading British ultrasonics technology manufacturer Coltraco exports 89% of their output to 109 countries and has established an extensive global network of strategic distribution and service partners.

Their lead national market is the USA and around 40% of their exports currently go to Asia.

International Trade Advisor Hilary Charman has helped Coltraco with its overseas approach and continues to support the company grow its export sales. In addition, they have received Trade Show grant funding and advice on distributor acquisition and management best practice techniques.

Pitchmark

Pitchmark are a family-owned and run business from Bristol that manufactures line marking paint and equipment for sports pitches.

Pitchmark products are sold in over thirty countries worldwide and were even supplied to the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 and UEFA EURO 2016 France football tournaments.

Pitchmark joined our Export for Growth programme back in November 2017 where we provided them with bursary funding to travel to South Africa for sales meetings in-market.

In January of this year we also connected them with contacts in Qatar to discuss opportunities to supply services and equipment at the 2022 World Cup.
