It looks as though there will be some partial easing of some of the coronavirus lockdown measures as early as Monday.

The prime minister will be talking to the nation on television on Sunday night and at prime minister’s questions in the House of Commons at lunchtime today, Boris said:

“We will want if we possibly can to get going with some of these measures on Monday.

“I think it would be a good thing to give people an idea what is coming the following day. That is why I think a Sunday on a weekend is the best time to do it.”

I think the lockdown easing he will announce on television will consist of baby steps and be very cautious.

They may include the opening of garden centres for instance, and certain shops.

Tomorrow, the government will announce the result of their three week review on the timing of the lockdown but I doubt this will change—it may even be extended.

I would doubt that the prime minister will give very much lockdown easing detail after tomorrow’s announcement but save that for his Sunday television broadcast.

Business will obviously be watching for detail of back to work distancing restrictions.
