Wiltshire MPs and Council Leader take questions from county’s business leaders

12th February 2021

Universities Minister and MP for Chippenham Michelle Donelan, MP for Devizes Danny Kruger and Leader of Wiltshire Council Philip Whitehead recently took part in a virtual roundtable discussion with businesses from across the county in the first in a series of meetings organised by the South West’s largest and most influential business group, Business West.

More than 50 local businesses logged on to hear from the MPs and the Council Leader and get answers to their questions on everything from COVID-19 and Brexit to planning issues and inward investment in the county.

The interactive session, which lasted 1hr 30 mins, provided local decision makers and business leaders with the opportunity to come together to positively influence the way Wiltshire’s economy is shaped, managed and developed.

Ian Larrard, Director of Swindon & Wiltshire Initiative at Business West comments:

“In Universities Minister Michelle Donelan, Devizes MP Danny Kruger and Cllr Philip Whitehead local businesses have true allies both locally and in Westminster to advocate on their behalf.

“Replicating our hugely successful MPs and Council Leader meetings in Swindon, I am delighted by the enthusiasm with which the event was met in the business community, making for a lively and informed discussion.

“Thank you to each of our representatives for taking the time to engage with the business community during this crucial period for the local economy.”

Chair of GreenSquare Group Robin Bailey attended the event and comments: ”This was a really valuable opportunity to get to know the Wiltshire MPs and business people and to form a stronger network between us all. Definitely a must do for next time!”

Future events will be held throughout 2021 in April, July and October. For more information or to register to attend contact Tina Doyle.
