Is your staff’s morale being affected by the lack of skills in your industry?

9th March 2018

According to a recent study from Hays, which surveyed over 17,500 employers, skills shortages not only have the potential to limit a company’s growth and hinder productivity, but are now also causing employees to feel increased pressure - fuelling low morale and increased absenteeism.

The skills shortage in the UK is becoming an ever growing problem, our Skills West project is trying to alleviate this issue by working with employers and training providers across the region. We aim to find out what skills employers need and put plans in place to ensure the future workforce reflects those needs.

With two out of three employers being negatively affected by a lack of abilities, it is essential that businesses plan for the future and look into different options that could help take the pressure off their existing workforce.

Apprenticeships can be a great way of bringing fresh talent on board. Modern apprenticeships have changed and are now available across hundreds of job roles, at all levels and, for all ages. With research showing that they also increase staff loyalty and can boost a business’ productivity by up to £11,000 a year, it pays to get involved!

Find out how apprenticeships can help your business and boost your productivity here.
