Alex and Theo have a passion for exceptional coffee, but they were frustrated with the inconsistency and inconvenience of specialty coffee across the country’s cafes and farm shops. Both Alex and Theo have a background in beverages, with Alex previously working with wine and Theo working with coffee. While brainstorming ideas on how to produce and capture the perfect cup of coffee, the boys discovered cold brew coffee. Cold brew coffee has no milk, no sugar and no nonsense. They knew that they wanted to produce a premium product with mass availability and appeal and so, after months of hard work and trials, Antler & Bird was born.
After trading for six months, using only their personal savings, Antler & Bird was ready to invest some serious cash into the business. Working closely with Business West Start-up Adviser Alyson Eyval, Alex and Theo were guided through the ‘scary yet unavoidable’ steps of applying for finance.

Alyson also helped the duo enhance their business plan to become investment ready and provided guidance on the next steps for growing their business. Now with their start-up loan in hand, Alex and Theo are looking to purchase equipment and premises which will increase their production tenfold.
Next up for the passionate coffee producers is getting their product available to buy in every corner of the country. They are currently in talks with large national retailers so keep an eye on the shelves of high street retailers later this year! Initially based in the Cotswolds, Antler & Bird is also planning a move to Bath, to position themselves right at the heart of UK coffee culture. With the city often referred to as the ‘coffee capital of England’ Antler and Bird is set to grow from strength to strength.
