The bright spark keeping Bristol’s lights on for nearly 30 years

1989 was a landmark year for business.

Semiconductor and microchip maker, Intel, released its ground-breaking 486 series of microprocessors, paving the way for the home computing revolution of the 1990s.

Somewhat remarkably, Intel was still making the chip up until 2007 – a longevity that is relatively unheard of in the computing world – but even so it failed to outlive another groundbreaking innovation also released in the same year: Microsoft Office.

While a technological revolution was taking hold on the West coast of America, across the pond in Bristol, another bright spark was starting a business that stands shoulder to shoulder with Microsoft Office as a byword for longevity.

Established in the very same month that Microsoft Office was released, and still going strong some 28 years later, Trimby Electrical Services Ltd is one of Bristol’s most successful and longest lasting commercial and domestic electrical services providers.

Building a reputation for quality and safety, Trimby Electrical is the trusted provider of Skanska, BAM, and the award-winning Biggs contractors, in addition to a number of education providers.

What’s more, Trimby Electrical holds accreditations from the following bodies: NICIC; Construction Line; Safe Contractor, Contractor Plus and CHAS.

Reflecting on 28 years in business, founder and director Neil Trimby said:

“Our proudest achievement is to have been able to delight our clients consistently for so long.

“Customer service is at the heart of everything we do and we have close relationships with all our clients who know they can rely on us to meet the highest standards, paying close attention to detail and exceeding expectations every time.”

Bristol Chamber of Commerce members since 2011, Trimby Electrical currently employs 10 full-time staff, and has used their membership to help grow their business.

“I joined the Chamber in 2011 to be part of something bigger and to help champion local businesses in Bristol.” said Neil.

“Over the years I have attended a number of management training courses, networking breakfasts and special events aimed at the construction industry – all of which have played a central role in helping me grow my business.

“In recent times, we have started to get to grips with the Chamber member online profile and member dashboard, helping us to raise our profile and hopefully attract customers online.”

Here’s to many more years of success with Bristol Chamber, Neil!
