As a key part of the DIT South West’s trade recovery support, we have selected 10 companies to take on a virtual trade mission to Mexico on 10th – 13th November 2020.
As part of the market briefing sessions, we have Gerardo Rodriguez, one of Mexico’s leading sales coaches and host of the #1 sales podcast in Latin America, who will give free advice to the businesses taking part on this mission. Together with Gerardo, companies will benefit from getting the latest business news from DIT Mexico and the Mexico UK Business Council - market experts that will help them navigate their way to successful sales in Mexico.
Mexico is the second-largest Latin American economy. Sectors that are open to UK and international business are extensive and include Advanced Engineering; Financial Services; Food & Drink and Defence. In 2018, trade between the UK and Mexico totalled £4.4 billion in goods and £2.8 billion in services.
The country has high regard for British products and sees the UK as one of its most compatible trading partners. Its growing population is looking for high-quality international products and technologies.

Sarah Hildersley, LATAC Market Specialist for DIT South West of England
With extensive business development experience as a British diplomat all over the world helping UK companies achieve sales success and private sector experience from Iraq, Sarah now advises South West companies on their approach to selling in complex markets in Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. Having worked extensively with small businesses and some of the largest UK firms, Sarah is well placed to help our companies secure sales in the most efficient way. Sarah helps companies analyse their route to market and to secure sustainable sales. She recently took on the expanded role of High Growth Markets Specialist in recognition of our levelling-up plans to help South West companies break into new markets.
Juliana Correa, Director of DIT Mexico
Juliana became DIT Mexico Director in April 2019. As well as having oversight of Central America and the Caribbean, Juliana leads the Mexico team that supports trade and investment with the UK. Prior to this role, Juliana worked for the Department for International Trade in HQ London, supporting companies in the infrastructure sector. Juliana started her career in the Civil Service at the Ministry of Defence where she worked as a risk specialist. Her experience in the private sector includes analytical roles in the Fitch Group as well as supply chain responsibilities at Procter & Gamble. Juliana has a BSc in International Business and an MSc in Global Politics from the LSE. After graduating, she taught an international trade course at university and worked on investment at the Colombian Embassy in London.
Luis Calette, Managing Director for Mexico UK Business Council
Specialised in helping foreign companies do business in Mexico. He previously worked as a Director of Department of International Trade Northwest office based in Tijuana, Mexico and created and implemented UK trade policy for Digital Economy, Creative Industries, Marine, Leisure & Tourism and Sports in Mexico. He graduated with honours from Universidad Iberoamericana majoring in International Trade & Customs. He is a founding partner of the Mexico-UK Business Council.
Ana Gallardo, Operations Director for Mexico UK Business Council
International Trade and Business Development Specialist, experienced in Government Liaison, Market Analysis, Public Relations, Marketing & Advertising. She previously worked as Trade & Investment Officer at UK Department of International Trade based in Mexico - focusing on key business sectors such as Digital Economy, Creative Industries, Leisure & Tourism, Marine and Sports. She is a founding partner of the Mexico-UK Business Council.
