Business grants

Export support

Business grants can be used to help you overcome many challenges and barriers to business growth; such as a lack of resources, strategic planning and skills, or inefficient processes and procedures. Getting the right grant funding could take your business to the next level.

Knowing what grant funding is available and how to access it can sometimes be tricky. There are many UK government and European (for now!) business grant schemes readily available, as well as various local business funding schemes provided by the Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs). Business grants are often made available at a regional level and can be sector specific. The amounts available tend to range between £1,000 and £100,000 for SMEs, but can be higher for MSBs within EU state aid programmes.

The great thing with business grants is that you don’t have to pay the money back. However, they normally come with a match funding requirement (typically 25% - 50%) in place. It’s also worth noting that during the application process you may have to set and agree the expected outputs, which will be achieved from the activity that is to be funded by the monies provided under the relevant grant scheme.
