Pledge your support

The best asset in your business is the people that make it happen. Investing in them and nurturing them will not only help to tackle your skills gaps, but you'll recruit and retain the right people. We want to connect local businesses with training and education providers to assist in building a future skilled workforce in the region. You can contribute to this by pledging your support in a variety of ways.

What are skills pledges?

Our Skills team want to inspire organisations like yours to offer your knowledge and time to benefit the future workforce. It's easy and there are many ways to get involved, from speaking at a careers fair to holding a work placement day. Taking part will allow you to contribute to reducing the region's skills gap and help your organisation with its own skills needs.

What can I pledge?

There are many ways to get involved including;

  • Tours and open days of your work premises
  • Career activities at a local school/college
  • Attending or speaking at a careers fair
  • Holding a work placement day/week/month/year
  • Hiring an intern or apprentice
  • Bespoke project design and delivery with university/college students
  • Peer to peer mentoring of staff

What are the benefits for your business?

Increase your productivity by supporting people of all ages to develop their skills and help to reduce the region's skills gaps. You'll also be able to solve the skills need in your own business.

You're not alone after putting your name down either. We're here to offer the guidance, advice and resources you need to take part in these activities.
