Swindon & Wiltshire Institute of Technology
Business West played a vital role in engaging anchor employers and galvanising the business community to get behind the successful Institute of Technology (IoT) bid for Swindon. Swindon & Wiltshire Initiative members Nationwide, Catalent Pharma Solutions and Excalibur Communication all gave their backing as anchor businesses of the IoT bid.
Launching in September 2021, the Swindon & Wiltshire Initiative continues to work closely with New College Swindon and the IoT to engage the local business community.
Swindon Futures Commission
In 2023 Business West launched the Swindon Futures Commission, a dedicated group established to investigate, analyse, and propose solutions to vital issues affecting Swindon’s economic performance and future trajectory.
Our aim is to shape a forward-looking vision for Swindon, one that prioritizes sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

Community involvement
Swindon & Wiltshire Initiative and its partners are people committed to enabling the business community to focus on the long term improvement of its social and economic infrastructure and determined to make our area the best place to work and live for all of its residents. We play an active role in founding and supporting a variety of groups and projects such as the Swindon Mindful Employer Network (SMEN), Magic Swindon and Swindon Learning Together Partnership.
