Following the success of our first cohort of startups last year, here at Origin Workspace we’re once again on the lookout for applications for Origin Startup.
Six entrepreneurs or small businesses will be given £18,000-worth of dedicated mentoring, office space, training and networking opportunities.
We view Origin Startup as a way for Origin Workspace to reinvest in the local economy by providing the right expertise and environment to help ambitious entrepreneurs and young businesses get the best possible start.
A 12-month package that’s 100% tailored to the needs of the business, Origin Startup seeks to understand the strengths, weaknesses and experience of each entrepreneur and devise a personalised and relevant plan to suit them.
We limit intake to just six businesses at any one time so that the upmost attention can be given to successful applicants and the aim is to be far more flexible and open than traditional accelerator schemes as we tailor the package to each entrepreneur’s individual goals.
The programme is only open to Bristol-based businesses and we’re specifically interested in hearing from entrepreneurs who care about purpose as well as profit. We’d love to see businesses that have the potential to make a positive difference in the local community and beyond – whether through job creation, supporting apprenticeships, linking to social enterprises or raising money for charity.
A great example of an entrepreneur that was part of our first cohort last year is Blue O’Connor. Origin Workspace helped him to crowd fund £10,000 to launch Kings – a vegan male grooming range that helps to fund a number of men’s mental health charities.
We understand that one size doesn’t fit all and that every entrepreneur starts a business with a different set of skills and varying levels of know-how under their belt. Origin Startup is designed to equip entrepreneurs with all the help, support and advice they need to run a successful business and it’s managed, created and delivered by real business people that are outcome rather than process driven.
Origin Workspace is 42,000 sq. ft. of coworking space housed at 40 Berkeley Square, a building that is currently in the process of going through an £8 million redevelopment. So, it you think you fit the profile, whether you already have a fully-fledged business plan or just the beginnings of a great idea, we want to hear from you! Bristol-based entrepreneurs with the passion and ambition to turn their dreams into reality can sign up to a pitch session here to present an executive summary of their ideas and vision.
