130 senior regional leaders attended a Busines West Initiative meeting on 19 September.

The theme of the event was health and well-being, with a particular focus on the current drivers of public health and how a joined up approach to tackle Bristol and the wider region's public health issues is essential.

The meeting was hosted by University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust in the Education & Research Centre. Employing more 9,000 people across nine hospital, UH Bristol is one of the largest employers in Bristol. Paul Kearney, CEO of Above & Beyond, the Trust's official charity partner, made a speech at the event, giving an overview of the role the charity plays in raising vital funds for the hospitals. He spoke about the success of the charity's current Bristol Heart Institute Appeal.

The appeal is aiming to raise £830,000 for the hospital to help provide the latest treatments, surgery techniques and facilities and now has just £50,000 to go to reach the target.

The event was also supported by a number of Above & Beyond volunteers. For more information on Above & Beyond and the work it does with Bristol's hospitals, visit the website: https://www.aboveandbeyond.org.uk/
