The countdown to the Great Bristol Run is on and it’s shaping up to be an action-packed celebration of running.  Bristol’s much-loved running event returns to the city on Sunday 19 September, with the 10k and Half Marathon events taking place on the same day for the first time.

The event is famous for its buzzing atmosphere, crowd support, high-energy music zones and picturesque route.  The new route for this year’s event showcases some of Bristol’s best bits, passing iconic landmarks including the stunning Queens Square, Prince Street Bridge, Harbourside and the historic Castle Park.

To keep runners safe there will be covid secure measures in place, but the thrill of running through Bristol’s streets and the unbeatable feeling of crossing the finish in Millennium Square, will be even more special this year.

A key component of the Great Bristol Run is the ENGIE Business Challenge which aims to bring together the city's thriving business community.  It’s become an annual fixture in the calendar of South West businesses, with over 1,000 runners representing more than 80 companies each year.

Bristol’s businesses will once again lace up their trainers and flex their muscles in a bid to become this year’s fastest companies.  A wide range of businesses are already represented with many more expected to enter in the coming weeks.

There are different categories for Small, Medium and Large sized businesses, as well as Male, Female and Mixed teams, ensuring it's a level playing field for each business.  Winners are picked based on the four fastest collective times by participants, with trophies awarded to winning businesses and an engraved plaque presented to the top three teams in each category.

This year’s Business Challenge offers a great opportunity for each individual organisation to encourage a healthy outlook for staff, engage in all-important team building after many have been working in isolation from home, and focus on charity fundraising for their chosen good cause.

The race is on to find out which companies will be crowned champions and earn the all-important bragging rights.
