Digital agency Rose Island has created the brand identity and complete online presence for the new Sussex Business School, the online distance learning business and management college.

Rose Island was briefed to develop branding and digital assets to reflect the cutting-edge nature of Sussex Business School, which offers online distance learning UK accredited and globally recognised Chartered Management Institute courses.

Learners can access business and management courses at any point - either live or later at a time that suits them, and can see each video multiple times. The agency worked on name generation, logo creation, copywriting, ecommerce website with virtual classroom portal design and build and will continue with online management and maintenance for the new institution. The site has been fully optimised for search and offers a clear user journey and single sign-on process. Sussex Business School works on the online learning principle to offer the graduate and post-graduate courses to learners internationally, from newer workers to experienced Level 8 leaders. The site is designed to appeal to larger companies looking to train their staff as well as individuals keen to develop their own qualifications, flexibly in their own time.

Carla Martin-Gullen, managing director, Sussex Business School, commented: “We needed a highly complex site with a modern appearance and top layer, a multi-layered sub-structure with a virtual learning environment and a direct enrolment and payment pathway. Rose Island responded positively to all requirements, applied their considerable expertise and the site is now live and operating effectively.

Rose Island bring knowledge and skills, the ability to understand specific business needs and objectives and an enthusiastic approach.”

Paul Fitzpatrick, owner and MD of Rose island, added: “Sussex Business School is set up to be a true specialist in distance learning. It was important to show how advanced their approach was versus their competitors across every touchpoint. We built the site from the end user’s perspective, to make it as easy as possible to select the relevant courses and modules for their needs. We also allowed them easy access to the virtual classroom area of their site via a simple single sign in.”

He added: “The shopping cart functionality was also carefully planned out to make the process of selecting, registering and paying and enrolling for courses easy and straightforward. To make the end-to-end experience from arriving at the site to completing a training course feel as joined up as possible, the branding and imagery has been carefully linked throughout. I’m very proud that we’ve achieved a beautifully designed, fully automated and responsive website that works across any device. At every stage of the process we kept the end user in mind and I think that really shows with the intuitive user experience that we’ve successfully delivered.”

Rose Island is based in Bath and works for a range of clients such as the National Trust, The Lakehouse Group and Enrol Digital.
