The Time is NOW for Investing in EV's

30th April 2019

On the 18th October 2018, the Future Economy Network co-hosted an afternoon event with subscribers, Alfen. This fully-booked event was entitled ‘Everything you need to know about EV transition in 3 hours’ and provided anyone with a fleet of vehicles or large car parking facilities with the latest information on everything EV (electric vehicle). The event was a lively affair with attendees being encouraged to comment throughout about their thoughts on switching to EVs.

The event kicked off with a series of short presentations followed by Q&As. First up was Melanie Shufflebotham, Co-Founder of Zap-Map and NextGreenCar who gave an overview of current and imminent vehicle choices and the national EV charging infrastructure.

Alex Hanson,Consumer Incentives Senior Policy Adviser for the Office for Low Emission Vehicles at the Department for Transport then spoke about the incentives available to business’ considering a shift to EVs. This was complemented by a presentation from Sara Sloman, Principle Officer and EV Project Manager for North Somerset Council who highlighted the important considerations for fleet managers when adopting EVs.

Co-host Alex Earl, UK Country Manager at Alfen then showcased his company’s products and highlighted the different aspects to consider when sourcing EV charge points.

This was followed by Richard Lowe, Investment Programme Manager at Bristol City Council who discussed initiatives taken by BCC and other Go Ultra Low West councils to facilitate the uptake of EVs.

Finally, Dan Martin, CEO of Elmtronics Ltd, Electric Vehicle Charging Specialists shared the latest thinking about EV charge point installation.

As always, there was an opportunity for networking; this time over a cuppa and a cake! Attendees were very engaged, so much so that the Future Economy Network extended the event by an hour to allow for those all-important discussions!

Huge thanks to all our speakers for getting us up to speed on all things EV and the huge opportunities these present. Many thanks to our co-hosts Alfen for the opportunity to share this important information with our network and finally, a big thank you to all of those whom attended, we hope you found it useful!
