Could your organisation benefit from the Kickstart Employment programme?

Are you an employer able to offer an opportunity for a young person to unlock their potential? If so, this video will take you through the Kickstart Scheme and let you know how your business can get involved.

The £2 billion Kickstart scheme will help create jobs for young people aged 16-24, who are currently claiming Universal credit and are at risk of long-term unemployment. These are 6-month entry level positions with the opportunity to develop a young person’s employability and skills.

Kickstart will fund 100% of the relevant National minimum wage for 25 hours a week, plus associated employer National Insurance contributions and automation enrolment pension contributions. It is open to businesses of all sectors and sizes and has no restrictions about how long the business has been trading.

Business West is a gateway organisation for businesses wanting to offer less than 30 placements in the West of England and Swindon & Wiltshire. We at Business West, along with the British Chambers of Commerce have had direct input into shaping the Kickstart Programme with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).

We’re looking for businesses to provide quality placements with quality outcomes. To meet this, we ask for a code of conduct and Charter for Quality. This is followed up by a grant agreement and evidence that needs to be collected and accorded. Our business skills advisors would help with this.

Watch the video to get a comprehensive overview of the Kickstart Scheme, the roles that can be created, finance and contractual set up, employability, partners, Q&As and more.

Find out more at our Kickstart page to register an expression of interest.

You'll then be sent the full application form which will clarify your next steps. Any issues please email the Skills Team. at skills@businesswest.co.uk
