Business West operates in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and for all services we deliver, we process, store and utilise the personal information you provide in accordance with the act.
The personal data you provide to Business West will be processed fairly and lawfully; it will be adequate, relevant and not excessive for those purposes collected. Business West will take all reasonable measures to ensure that it is accurate and kept up to date; is kept for no longer than is necessary and that it is protected against accidental loss, destruction or damage and against unauthorised or unlawful processing. It will not be transferred to countries outside the European Economic Area, unless that country or territory ensures an adequate level of protection for the rights and freedom of data subjects in relation to the processing of personal data.
Business West delivers the Chambers of Commerce in Bristol, Bath and Gloucestershire; it also delivers a number of publicly funded services including the UK Trade & Investment Service (UKTI) in the south west. Some of these areas have specific data usage arrangements; these are outlined in this policy.
We ask for information about you when you request information through our website and also when you receive business information and advice over the phone, at events and face to face when you meet with our advisers.
This information is used for the following purposes: responding to enquiries, service and contract administration and performance monitoring, marketing and research purposes. The information provided is held in the strictest confidence.
We do not share, sell or distribute your data with unrelated third parties, except under limited circumstances. Before disclosing to a third party, we require the third party by contract to take adequate precautions to protect that data.
Data may occasionally be transferred to third parties who act on our behalf to deliver a service or information in accordance with the purposes for which the data was originally collected or for purposes to which you have subsequently consented.
We may share or transfer the information in our databases to comply with a legal requirement, for the administration of justice, to protect your vital interests, to protect the security or integrity of our databases or our website, to take precautions against legal liability, or in the event of our sale, merger, re-organisation, dissolution or similar event.

European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)
Business West delivers a number of ERDF funded programmes on behalf of the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG).
Business West and DCLG operate in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. The personal information provided through these programmes will be used by Business West to provide business advice and services. For contractual purposes, it may also be shared with DCLG for the purposes of research and monitoring our performance. All information will be held in the strictest confidence.
The ERDF funded 'Internationalisation Project 2' is delivered in partnership by Business West and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) on behalf of DCLG. Business West and UKTI operate in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. In addition to using it to provide business advice and services, the personal information provided through this programme will be also shared with UKTI for the purposes of service delivery. For contractual purposes, it may also be forwarded to UKTI’s overseas network or to the body providing the funding. All information will be held in the strictest confidence.
