Last week six members of the Business West International Trade Services team played a crucial role in combating hunger this festive season.

All Business West employees are encouraged to get involved in volunteering opportunities and can spend 2 days per year doing voluntary work.

The team, which included, Rachel, Helen Telma, Emily, Faith and Debbie, worked at Weston Foodbank over two days and played a crucial role in replenishing the dwindling stocks with donated food items. In addition, they also got involved in the physically demanding but fulfilling job of unloading a van brimming with donations, a testament to the generosity of the Weston community.

The team also spent time in the local Tesco promoting the Foodbank to shoppers. Armed with 'shopping lists', they guided kind-hearted shoppers on what to buy, which ranged from a single tin, or a bag to an entire £200 shop generously donated by one family.

The impact of these efforts was nothing short of phenomenal. Over just three days, from the 30th November to the 2nd December, the Weston Foodbank received over 2000 kg of food donations.

Emily spoke about volunteering:

"I'm glad I was able to use one of my volunteering days at the Weston Foodbank, it's local to me and provides a much-needed service to my community. I've always volunteered, in one shape or another, so it is fantastic to be able to use my work time to continue this passion."
