Cornish businesses invited to US Market Accelerator programme

29th September 2021

Businesses from across Cornwall are being invited to a new market accelerator programme that will help them break into the biggest global economy.

‘USA in a Day’ is a new initiative, from Business West and The Department for International Trade and funded by the European Regional Development Fund that will help companies understand the market and learn how to maximise the opportunities that exist across the Atlantic.

Taking place in St Austell on October 12 and 13, the programme will give businesses a deep understanding of culture and what US customers expect. Delegates will learn how to research the market, identify demand and explore routes to market across different stages of their export journey.

The fully funded event is the first in a new programme called The Growth Studio, which has been designed to train and up skill exporters and businesses with high export potential.

Companies will also find out how digital technologies and social media can positively impact growth whilst learning how to harness this to build strong relationships Stateside.

Ameeta Virk, US Growth Markets Leader at Business West said:

“The US is the UK’s largest trading partner, and the South West is the UK’s third largest export region to the states.

“Right now there is a fantastic opportunity for Cornish companies to capitalise on this special relationship.

“Our new programme will equip businesses with the skills to strategically plan for US market entry and to ultimately win business.

“I would encourage all businesses across the Duchy to take advantage of the expert advice available to help kickstart their exports into this lucrative market.”

Ameeta will be joined by Head of International Research, Kerry Stagg and Digital Trade Adviser Nigel Barker for the event.

Along with members of the Department for International Trade team, they will also be available for one-to-one mentoring sessions aimed at helping firms create a comprehensive export strategy tailored for the US market.
