Prime Minister Boris Johnson tonight confirmed at his daily press conference that the Chancellor Rishi Sunak would be presenting his coronavirus compensation package for the self-employed tomorrow.

This will be very welcome news for the country’s 5million self-employed people and seems likely to be modelled on the package introduced in Denmark and Norway.

Norway’s scheme gives self-employed people 80% of their monthly incomes based on tax returns over several years.

This will obviously help the government’s stay at home policy as many self-employed people feel they must leave their homes to work.

But a big question mark will be over the delivery date of this government money as many of these self-employed people are on the edge of survival in their business.
