Close to one billion people with mental health issues don't have access to a personal therapist. As a result, stress, low mood, worry, regret, blame, self-blame, bad relationships and anxiety are not addressed at scale. Families and individuals suffer as a consequence. Nations have to deal with homelessness, poverty, and loss of productivity. Change a Billion Minds changes this by democratizing access to proven training within a globally scalable online community.

The Challenge

One billion people live with a mental disorder, 3 million people die every year from the harmful use of alcohol and one person dies every 40 seconds by suicide. The world was not set up to respond to the growing mental health crisis before COVID-19, and it is not now. The war in Ukraine accelerates this. Before the COVID-19 outbreak, global statistics on mental health conditions were already bleak. The global economy loses more than US$ 1 trillion per year due to depression and anxiety.

"If we can break the spiral of poor mental well-being and strengthen mindsets at scale, the world will be a much better place. That was my initial thought, bringing my clinical experience into digital video training. We see a massive opportunity to help one of our world focus areas ‘mental health’ together with Haaartland" - Graham Price, Psychologist, founder of Change a Billion Minds.

A Revolutionary Approach

If we can improve mental well-being for the many, if we can reach people early before things might deteriorate, we can change the world for the better. We do this by offering psychologist Graham Price's animated self-correction videos free to everyone and by activating a global support community to spread the free video program to everyone in need. This disrupts both the scale at which psychological tools can transform individual lives and the way we scale a health initiative via the online community. With such a community, we involve people to help people.

"Personally, I am very moved by this initiative. Such a community has the potential to change the lives of billions of individuals and their families across the planet. Putting a disruptive innovation such as Graham's self-coaching videos in a community setting is nothing but revolutionary. Many can now work on personal change, and the community can carry the opportunity out to the far corners of the world. I see the community taking the flag and changing everyone’s mental health at a scale where governments might not have the opportunity to do so." Leslie Clarke, Haaartland
