More Family Run Fun in 2023 - Held in partnership with Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal on Sunday 14 May

The AJ Bell Great Bristol Run has once again teamed up with Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal to launch this year’s Family Run event, which takes place on Sunday 14 May.

Open to entrants aged three years old and above, it’s a popular family occasion that gives budding young runners a taste of the big event experience while raising money for an important local cause. The run is held on the same day as the AJ Bell Great Bristol Run, where thousands of runners take on a 10k and Half Marathon challenge around the streets of Bristol.

Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal is the dedicated charity for Bristol Children’s Hospital, and every year teams of runners put on the distinctive Grand Appeal vest, and take part in the Family event, 10k & Half Marathon to raise valuable funds for the charity.

Promising another great experience for all the family, Wallace and Gromit will be at the start line to cheer everyone on, offer high fives and plenty of encouragement, adding to the buzzing atmosphere throughout the one-mile course. It doesn’t matter if you run or walk, all participants take home a medal and goodie bag, as well as the pride that comes with crossing the finish line.

This year’s AJ Bell Great Bristol Family Run coincides with the 30th anniversary of Aardman’s much-loved film, Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers. Since 1995, Aardman have generously allowed Wallace & Gromit’s Grand Appeal to use their iconic characters to spearhead their fundraising. To mark this special anniversary, participants are encouraged to take part in the ‘Wrong Trousers’ fancy dress theme.

Family Run entrants aged 3-8 must run with a parent and tickets must be purchased for all runners, including both children and accompanying adults. The course starts and ends on Anchor Road, weaving around the city centre in a flat, easy course, with participants encouraged to take part at their own pace.
