Psychometric testing is a powerful aid for business, It tests people on their motivation, growth, and ensuring your potential bright star isn’t a dark tunnel.

Hiring people just on the basis of a CV and an interview is just not enough, especially if the role you are trying to fill is critical to the success of your business.

Given all the tools that are available using tried and tested assessments, you can get a very accurate gauge on how your new employee will function.

It's a very common and costly mistake to employe someone hoping they will deal with the stress of an important role, only to discover that six months on and they are calling in sick.

“Psychometrics provides a means of validating a new member of your team. Offering an insight into performance and personality.

Managers often employ people they like or connect to, it isn’t always about what the role needs, minimising this risk is crucial to making properly informed choices.

So how does it work? It's important to state that we're not “testing” that someone is perfect. There is no harsh light in the eyes or uncomfortable questions. It's much more like an organic conversation that is informed by what the role needs and the qualities of the candidate.

The assessment is much more about a correct fit given the criteria of the role. It's also about how to support the right candidate into the role they have been appointed for.

So is it one test fits all? absolutely not. Every job is different, as is every candidate so it's crucial that the right assessment is used. Psychometric testing is excellent for drawing up shortlists and if its a management or executive role the stakes are so much higher and the test are much more about the business and simulations that check the candidate's responses. The more responsible the role has, the more important is to make sure you are completely informed. Employing the wrong manager can be a very costly and damaging experience, psychometric testing helps to mitigate the risks.

What is the result of psychometric testing? It's about seeing a true balance between skills, personality, and competencies. It highlights strengths and development opportunities. Of course, psychometric testing can not guarantee that your candidate is perfect, but it goes a very long way to inform and underpin and ultimately future proof of your business.
