Rockit the Bristol based startup and Business West member has picked up the prestigious Innovation Award at the Progressive Preschool Awards in London.

The company’s launch product is called Rockit and is a portable baby rocker that fits to any pram or stroller and gently rocks to soothe babies to sleep or keep them asleep when the pram stops moving.

The Progressive Preschool Awards recognise and reward excellence in product, retailing and marketing across the preschool sector and was attended by over 400 industry pioneers, retailers and suppliers.

The judging panel included key buyers from some of the nation’s top retailers including Mothercare, JoJo Maman Bebe, Tesco, Sainsburys and Amazon. The Rockit’s founding team attended the glittering awards ceremony at The Dorchester and fought off competition from much larger international companies to land the award.

Nick Webb, the Rockit inventor comments “We were shocked but delighted to hear our name announced as winners. We only launched Rockit just over a year ago and it has been an amazing journey so far. I initially developed it to help my daughter Abby sleep in her pram and we have now sold over 30,000 Rockits and are exporting to nearly 40 countries around the world. The Rockit is proving a hit with worn out mums and dads and it is great to be recognised with such a prestigious award within the nursery industry”.

Despite Rockit being a very young company they are no stranger to awards, having won a Design Council Spark Award, a European Design Award and various consumer awards already. The clever product is highly portable, can be used indoors and outdoors and incorporates a speed control to achieve the perfect rock for babies and strollers of any size.

Matt Dyson, Rockit CEO concludes, “This is a really exciting time for the business as we recently raised capital through an equity crowdfunding campaign. This is funding the development of two new products which we aim to launch next year. These products will focus on different child sleep issues and we are confident they will cement our reputation as an ambitious and innovate nursery brand.”
