The science is clear: we must take decisive action now to stop the worst impacts of climate change that will affect our lives and that of future generations.
How business acts now will shape our planet and communities for centuries to come.
Every business needs to take bold steps now to reduce its own carbon emissions and achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
We know that many SMEs are keen to take action but don’t know where to start, are uncertain about which approach to take and don’t have the time or funds to access external consultancies.

What is Business West doing?
We’ll be sharing our own journey to Net Zero as we progress.
We’re fully committed to safeguarding the environment and addressing the climate crisis. In December 2020, we were the first Chamber of Commerce in the UK to release our climate change position statement.
As a carbon neutral company we are focused on achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030. To meet this ambitious goal, in reducing carbon emissions and in accelerating the decarbonisation of business activity across the region, our next steps include:
Reducing direct and indirect carbon emissions
We’ve already started sourcing electricity from renewable sources through Ecotricity, and are following planned measures to reduce our carbon emissions, with remaining emissions balanced using Gold Standard Verified Emission offsets.
Supporting our business community
We’re committed to supporting our members and the wider business community to make a ‘just transition’ on their own journeys toward net zero and climate resilience, while enhancing and protecting natural assets globally.
Accelerating the region
We strengthen our commitment to working with stakeholders on transitioning the region to meet net zero targets and achieving a climate and nature resilient economy and place.
