Green Shield Group Powers Schools Across the South West with New Solar Installations
Phil Walker - Green Shield Group
Green Shield Group and The Partnership Trust have delivered three new school solar projects in Bristol and the Southwest, helping cut energy costs and move closer to net zero.
Following an initial review of existing solar infrastructure this spring, Green Shield Group worked closely with the Trust to identify additional schools suitable for renewable energy upgrades. The programme now covers three installations, with a fourth, Chew Magna Primary School, currently in the planning stages.
At The Mendip School, a 30kWp solar PV system has been installed, delivering an estimated 76.9% self-consumption rate. The system is expected to save the school more than £7,000 in its first year while generating clean electricity for on-site use.
Meanwhile, Weston All Saints Primary School has benefited from a 40.95kWp installation, which is expected to generate more than 41,000 kWh of renewable energy each year. That is equivalent to powering approximately 14 households annually, saving the school over £9,000 in energy costs and significantly reducing its carbon footprint.
Collectively, these projects move the Trust closer to achieving its sustainability goals: reducing emissions, lowering costs, and promoting sustainability education across the region.
“It’s inspiring to see schools take the lead in the transition to clean energy,” said James Vincent, Regional Director, Green Shield Group. “These installations not only reduce costs, they also demonstrate to pupils that sustainability is tangible and achievable. We are proud to support The Partnership Trust’s proactive approach and long-term vision.”
The next phase of the project will see solar panels installed at Chew Magna, extending the benefits of renewable energy to more students and staff across the Trust’s network.
Green Shield Group specialises in delivering carbon reduction strategies for organisations throughout the UK. It operates across several sectors, including manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, leisure, education, and local authorities, helping to simplify the transition to renewable energy.
