The British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) is calling on the Government to tackle the problems of the UK’s worn-out infrastructure to fire up growth.
From October 2025 onwards it has been confirmed that work will commence on the second iteration of the national rollout of the LSIPs, allowing the important work of these projects to continue.
Last week the Bristol Initiative and Futures West hosted a Devolution and Growth event at Bristol’s Engine Shed, which featured keynote speeches from Andrew Carter, Chief Executive at Centre for Cities, and Stephen Peacock, Chief Executive of the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority. The event also featured a panel debate with experts across housing, skills, transport and policy.
The Bristol Chamber & Initiative has appointed Ed Rowberry, BBRC’s Chief Executive, as President. Ed, who as the driving force behind BBRC has mobilised more than £70m investment into the West of England, is committed to driving ‘good growth’. He will hold his first address at the Bristol Initiative’s West of England Metro Mayor Hustings, which takes place next month.

We are regularly seeing headlines saying there is a national housing crisis and the Government is pledged to increasing supply. One of the ways they are doing that is to raise the targets for many local authorities, and Bath and North East Somerset is one of those, with the district being challenged to deliver about 30,000 homes – double the number previously envisioned.
