This growing trend, known as Shadow AI, creates new risks around data security, compliance and governance.
Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming part of everyday business operations. From drafting emails to creating reports, employees are increasingly turning to AI tools to work more efficiently.

This growing trend, known as Shadow AI, occurs when employees use consumer AI applications such as ChatGPT or other AI assistants outside of organisational governance and security controls. While often well-intentioned, Shadow AI can create risks around data security, compliance, confidentiality and visibility.
Shadow AI refers to the use of artificial intelligence tools that have not been approved, managed or monitored by an organisation.
