How can diplomatic insight help businesses in the Southwest?

The Diplomatic Advisory Hub is a joint initiative between the Foreign Office and British Chambers of Commerce that provides businesses with free geopolitical insights to help them export.

Their main services are speaking at in-person events, hosting webinars and having 1-2-1s with businesses - any business can get in touch with them via their website.

Three Foreign Office staff make up the Hub, but crucially they are connected to thousands of experts around the world.

They don’t aim to duplicate the extensive export support already out there – including support provided by Business West and by the government. They instead aim to provide businesses with geopolitical context to help them make informed business decisions.

For example, they can provide:

  • insight into how UK or foreign government policy changes may affect your business, e.g. they’ve spoken to hundreds of businesses about the future UK/EU relationship.
  • cultural insights into a target market, e.g. they’ve provided 1-2-1 support to a Lincolnshire business about to visit China.
  • geopolitical risks and opportunities that may affect commercial decisions, e.g. risks and opportunities surrounding the Middle East crisis.
  • contacts to help your business. E.g., They’ve connected an investment firm to climate change experts in North Africa.

The team would love to hear from you - get in touch with a question via their website.
