Heritage, old and listed buildings come with their own set of complexities when it comes to achieving sustainability goals.
Join us for our free Intention to Action clinic on Wednesday 14 October with Richard Jones and Clare Hughes, Associate Directors fromArup, where we will explore the practical approaches to decarbonising older and heritage buildings, helping to preserve a building’s identity while equipping you for a low carbon future.
This session will cover:

Why it’s important to decarbonise old, heritage and listed buildings

The challenges of decarbonising these buildings and how these can be overcome

The co-benefits of low carbon upgrades to business and building preservation

The different levels of decarbonisation actions an organisation can take
We will start the session with a private tour of the Royal West of England Academy (RWA), a Grade II* listed art gallery, who back in 2021 carried out a full building refurbishment. They will be sharing their insights from this experience, highlighting how they prioritised sustainability as part of this project.
There will be refreshments and light snacks on arrival.
Who is this session for?
This event is aimed at organisations that own or manage heritage, listed or older buildings*, and we also welcome applications from tenants who want to influence change within their building. All stages of building decarbonisation welcome – whether you are at the very beginning of your journey or already have a plan in place.
*Please note your building doesn’t have to be listed to be able to attend – but it does have to be either listed, of a certain age (at least 50 years old), or have heritage or cultural significance. This is to make sure the content of the session is relevant to everyone in the room.
To facilitate small group discussion, places are limited. Please register your interest by Friday, 25 September at 5pm. We will be reviewing applications as they come in but will let you know by the latest on Monday 5 October. In the meantime, please hold 8:45am–11:15am on Wednesday 14 October in your diary.
